Soccer Camp 2011


Belle Vernon Soccer Day Camp Shoot to Score Soccer Academy and the University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer program will offer a soccer day camp at DiVirgilio Sport Complex in Belle Vernon for girls and boys age 5-14 years during the week of July 18-21, 2011 (6:00 pm - 8:30 pm each evening).

The camp program is designed to nurture the technical development of young soccer players, to keep them active, interested, involved and having fun while learning fundamentals of the world’s most popular sport.  Instruction focuses on the development of basic soccer skills through individual and small group exercises. Passing, receiving, dribbling, shielding, tackling, heading and shooting skills are emphasized. Fundamental concepts of individual and group tactics (1v1, 2v1, 2v2, etc) are also covered.  All campers will receive an official camp T-shirt.

Two camp programs will be offered.


·        90 minute camp for boys and girls 5-7 years of age (6:00 – 7:30 pm). 

·        2 ½ hour camp for boys and girls 8-14 years of age (6:00 – 8:30 pm)

·        All registrations are thru the Belle Vernon Soccer Association

Shoot to Score Soccer Programs are directed by Dr. Joseph Luxbacher, men’s soccer coach at the University of Pittsburgh and an “A” licensed coach of the United States Soccer Federation. Dr. Luxbacher has authored more than a dozen books and numerous articles on the sport of soccer. His soccer books published by Human Kinetics have sold more than 230,000 copies, and five books have been translated into foreign languages. Coach Luxbacher has also authored articles dealing with sport nutrition, fitness, and weight control, and has twice been honored as “Big East Conference Soccer Coach of the Year.  Luxbacher is an inductee in the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.


Shoot to Score Soccer Academy camps are staffed by experienced and knowledgeable coaches who are assisted by outstanding college players. Staff members are chosen based upon their ability to relate to young players, as well as to demonstrate skills and impart knowledge of the game
